Blue Jean Bag

This is a cute stylish DIY bag that you can go crazy with your imagination. To me this is a very summery bag, just pick a  fabric that remind you of summer.

In this tutorial I will be using blue jean shorts.
You would take the same steps if you were using jeans, only the first step would be cut the legs off about
 3 inches from crotch.

A pair of blue jeans shorts or blue jeans
About  a quarter to a half a yard of fabric
Sewing machine or needle and thread
A tape measure
Stitch Riper
Some Pins
A pair of scissors
Accessories Ex. buttons,bows,etc (optional)

                 Turn shorts inside out
(step 1 if you're using shorts and
step 2 if you're using jeans)

Take a stitch ripper and rip open crotch area.

                                   It should look like this.......

Where you've ripped the stitches to open the crotch,
 match seams together.
(I sometimes will do this step but it can a
completely skipped if you choose to)

                             Fold over

                         And pin

I pinned across the bottom where the pin head stopped in
picture above. and then I cut the access material off.

This is what it should look like......

      NOW FOR THE STRAPS
Ok, first measure the width of the the belt loop.

Mark that measurement, times two(remember you are going to fold it in half to sew). I went ahead and did three. (so the handles and belt are the same size.)  Usually, I would make the straps  bigger than the belt. This was just quicker, and I didn't mind the straps being so small because there are two and its a crossbody bag. so you can make the straps as thick as you would like them, But really it depends on how big you bag is, so really its just a guessing game.

Cut straps and belt out and pin.

I like to iron my belt and straps just to makes sewing easier.

Now its time to sew  EVERYTHING!

                       Sew both straps and belt.

Sew straight across the bottom of the bag.

Now just pin your straps to your purse At the length you would like them.
(so in otherwise try the purse before sewing just to make sure strap are not to short or long)

Now, I like to measure from the beginning of the inside fold to where I put my strap.
And then I use that measurement for all the others straps, so everything becomes even.
After Making sure everything is even and try it on.

OK, everything is good and even. NOW SEW!!!

                             Should look like this.........
                      (upside down picture malfunction, sorry)

Cut your excess fabric off

Now all of your straps should be sewn on.

OK just insert the belt through the belt loops.
You can make the belt long enough so you can tie a bow
or make them where they meet in the middle.

Add a fabric flower or some buttons or whatever you'll like to make this your very       own personalized bag.

                                       Viola!!!!!
